Ecocem Ireland is an independent, specialist producer of GGBS (Ground Granulated Blastfurnace Slag) cement. Ecocem is the registered trading name of Ecocem Ireland Limited.
Ecocem is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ecocem Materials Limited, an Irish company set up in 2001 to undertake industrial developments in Europe in the production and use of GGBS. Ecocem Materials Limited has already built and operates a GGBS production facility in The Netherlands supplying the Dutch and Belgian markets. This facility is operated by Orcem BV, a sister company of Ecocem Ireland. Another facility is under construction at Fos in the South of France. The facilities in Ireland and Holland can produce approximately 350,000 tonnes of GGBS cement. The facility in France when it opens in late 2009 will have the capacity to produce over 700,000 tonnes of GGBS.
Ecocem operates from a purpose-built GGBS grinding plant, the first such plant in Ireland, located in the Port of Dublin.
