The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald will officially open the Crumlin Childcare Centre, Pearse Memorial Park, Windmill Road, Crumlin today, Tuesday 3rd July, at 6.45pm.

This part VIII planning facility, at the site formerly occupied by the caretaker’s bungalow, was approved at the March 2009 City Council meeting. A grant of €1.05m from the Department of Health & Children under the 'National Childcare Investment Programme 2006-2110' was received in May 2009.

Works to construct the facility commenced on 8th June 2010 and were substantially completed on 25th February 2011. The centre opened on 18th April 2011 and has over 80 children attending the facility.

The provision of a Community Childcare Centre in Crumlin is the culmination of many years work and is now providing much needed affordable full and part time childcare places. The building and equipment is of the highest standard and is of great benefit to the local community.
