Regeneration Master Plan For Limavady Town Centre Published

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland has announced the publication of a regeneration Master Plan for Limavady Town Centre.

Welcoming the publication of the document, Nelson McCausland said: "I am pleased that my Department has been able to work with Limavady Borough Council and other key stakeholders to prepare this ambitious Master Plan for Limavady Town Centre. As a market town situated on the Causeway Costal Route, Limavady has great potential to become an important tourist destination.

"The opportunities identified in this Master Plan for the redevelopment and regeneration of the town centre will assist with future marketing strategies to attract tourists, investors, traders, and employers to Limavady."

The purpose of the Master Plan, which was commissioned by the Department for Social Development and Limavady Borough Council, is to provide strategic guidance for the regeneration and development of Limavady Town Centre over the next 10-15 years.

The redevelopment of a number of key opportunity sites and the revitalisation of sections of the public realm are identified as key elements in the delivery of the regeneration of Limavady. The Master Plan proposes the creation of the four 'Quarters' within the town centre – Retail, Civic, Education and Mixed Use to set a framework within which the regeneration strategy can effectively be delivered.

The Master Plan was developed following consultation with a wide range of stakeholders and local residents were also given an opportunity to express their views on the document.
