EirGrid Appoints New Chief Executive |
|
Mr Fintan Slye has been selected as EirGrid's next Chief Executive, after a competitive recruitment and selection process.
Mr Slye has extensive senior management experience in the electricity industry. He is currently the Director of Operations at EirGrid and previously worked in Ireland and internationally with McKinsey and Company and ESB National Grid.
EirGrid is the operator of the electricity transmission grid in Ireland, and the owner of System Operator for Northern Ireland (SONI), which operates the grid in Northern Ireland. The Single Electricity Market Operator (SEMO), which operates the wholesale electricity market across the island of Ireland is also part of the EirGrid Group. EirGrid has a key role in social and economic development through its role in putting in place modern electricity infrastructure, interconnection to other power systems, and a competitive wholesale power market.

He will take over the role of Chief Executive from Dermot Byrne, who is retiring at the end of September.
