Track And Station Improvements Welcomed |
|
Ulster Unionist MLA Roy Beggs Jnr has welcomed track and station improvements on the Larne to Belfast railway line.
In addition to improvements which have already taken place, Translink have announced several new projects including the replacement of 5 miles of jointed track with continuous welded rail between Whitehead and Larne, and a 200 metre extension of the platform at Larne Harbour to accommodate 4 x 3 car trains.

The smoother ride which the welded track will provide will enhance the experience of passengers traveling between Whitehead and Larne. The imminent platform extension at the Harbour, adding to completed platform extensions at Larne Town, Whitehead, Downshire, Carrickfergus, Jordanstown and Whiteabbey will enable longer trains to use the stations and so increase the capacity of the service during busy peak times."
